Diving Southeast Asia
Sandwiched between two of the world's greatest oceans, the Pacific and the Indian, and with almost constant water temperatures, the Southeast Asian archipelago is home to the greatest tropical marine biodiversity known to man.
Scuba diving is at the forefront of the marine environmental conservation campaign, providing alternative incomes to those dependent upon the sea, educating the local people against damaging fishing techniques such as bombing and cyaniding the reefs, and creating an incentive to protect the marine environment. (Southeast Asia is home to millions of people who depend on fishing for a livelihood.)
Symbiosis Director, Chris Gow, has been diving the region for almost 20 years, discovering the best dive spots away from the madding crowds, and maintaining close contacts with the individuals who make it all possible for us to dive.
