Cambodia Cultural Discovery

The heart of Cambodian culture lies in the ancient city of Angkor. Built during the reign of King Suryavarman II (ruled 1113 – c. 1150) in the early 12th century, at its height the Khmer Empire covered much of what is now modern-day Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. Like the temples of Angkor, Cambodian culture is vast, rich and detailed. Khmer dance is probably the most well-known of the Cambodian arts, with its graceful hand movements and beautiful apsara dancers. But literally every facet of Cambodian arts and sports are in the midst of a renaissance, including Khmer boxing, circus arts, modern art and music.
