Already renowned for its inspiring ancient temples rising out of the jungle, Cambodia is also rich in exotic wildlife. In particular, birdwatching enthusiasts will find much to twitch about with a number of key sites to enjoy their passion.

With much of Cambodia's central plains covered in water for part of the year, the country is a haven for many species of water bird, including storks, pelicans, Giant & White Shouldered Ibis and the majestic Sarus Crane, the world's tallest-standing flighted bird… for which Cambodia is the largest breeding ground.

Meanwhile Cambodia's forests support hundreds of oriental bird species, from Raptors to Fantails, Woodshrikes to woodpeckers, several species of hornbill, and critically endangered species such as Bengal Floricans and three types of vulture.

With experienced English speaking local guides leading the way, each birding adventure supports the local community and gives back to wildlife conservation programs.

In between visits to some of Cambodia's best wildlife reserves, explore the magnificent temple ruins of the ancient Angkor Kingdom including Angkor Wat, the largest and almost imposing temple, Ta Phrom, still partially subsumed by rainforest, the old city of Angkor Thom, and some lesser-known, remoter sites such as the Roluos Group and the stunning Banteay Srey, whose stone carvings are so intricate it is the said that they could only have been created by the hands of women.
