A 6.9 magnitude tremor hit northern Burma (Myanmar) last night at around 8.25pm, local time. The epicentre was apparently around 74km south-east of Mawlaik and shook buildings in Mandalay, Yangon and as far away as Guwahati in India.
Panic ensued in Yangon but to date there are no reports of injuries.
