  1. One Response to “Last minute liveaboard offer – 40% off, Truk & Fiji”

  2. As many of you who have been following the news are aware, Typhoon Maysak cut a swathe through the Pacific islands last week and, on Sunday 29th March struck Truk causing a great deal of damage across the island.

While Truk Siren was lucky to escape without injury or loss of life to staff and crew, both on land and on board the boat, the boat herself was not so lucky. Despite the valiant efforts of the crew the storm blew her onto the reef, along with 5 other vessels, and then a small element of people with ill will boarded her and looted and destroyed most of her interior.

Frank and Mark, the partners in Worldwide Dive and Sail, dropped boat building plans and holidays respectively and headed straight to Truk and Head Office to oversee the aftermath of the incident. A surveyor was appointed by our insurance company and Frank and the crew worked with him closely during the time he was in Truk, while the team in Head Office are currently in the process of re-arranging everyone’s trips as far ahead as we feel we have to right now.

We still can’t say anything concrete about the future of the boat, however, we are obviously hoping and waiting on that front and will update you as we know more.

There are many unsung heroes during any catastrophe, but we would like to sing the praises of a few here. Siren’s crew had already disembarked guests from the pre-typhoon cruise, however we would like to give a huge thanks to them for providing food, clothes, medical assistance, beds, and most importantly emotional support to our crew to: Ladonna Idell, Annette Marie Von Thun, Brian Busuttil, Laura Torres Soto, Jesus Soto Salvador, and Peter Lucas. Siren Heroes.
