Bangkok is not known for its fast moving traffic, but in 2015 the fastest cars in the world will speed through the capital’s streets.
Formula One (F1) chief Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that the 2015 Grand Prix calendar will feature a night race on the streets of the Thai capital. Speculation about a F1 race in Thailand has been growing since championship-winner Red Bull Racing carried out a racing demonstration through the streets of Bangkok in December 2010.
The governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand added to the speculation when he revealed he was working closely with F1 officials to look for the best site. The annual fee for hosting a F1 race is USD$27 million and according to reports, the government of Thailand will foot around 60 per cent of the bill, with the rest set to come from private Thai companies.
