Island Retreat is located at Pulau Batudaka, one of the main Islands within the Togian cluster. It is surrounded by mangrove, jungle, fine white sandy beaches, and flora and fauna unique to the Wallace line (a division between the New and Old World) about 30 kilometres from the equator.

Island Retreat, built in 1998, offers 20 spacious, airy, beautifully constructed cottages designed to blend in sympathetically with the surrounding jungle

10 cottages are set on the oceanfront with white sandy beach, private veranda and spectacular views, all shaded by huge coconut trees. The rest lie just back from the beach in the palm and flower gardens.

The oceanfront cottages have private bathroom with running water, and double or twin beds with mosquito net. Garden cottages have a shared external bathroom, with twin beds.

Island Retreat is managed by Sylvie Manley. Before she came to the Togians to fulfil her dream, building Island Retreat, Sylvie lived and worked in Rantepao, Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi. There she owns the Island Cafe Restaurant and Guesthouse, well known for its hospitality and superb local and western cuisine.

Island Retreat serves fresh, healthy and delicious food, bought in local markets and from fishermen who visit Island Retreat daily to hawk their wares.

Island Retreat is a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Togian Islands, whether from the comfort of your hammock on your personal veranda, snorkelling or diving in the warm, crystal clear waters, or by exploring further afield on a series of day trips or longer excursions.
