Thailand's reputation as a great holiday destination is well deserved. With its beautiful beaches, tasty food, northern ethnic diversity and mountains, and history.
This bike tour gives you everything in one trip: ride the north of Thailand, stay in a hilltribe village, and explore the infamous Golden Triangle. Then after a short flight to the south we use boats and bikes to relax and slow down the pace for some beach time.
10 Days: Chiang Rai to The Gulf
This tour is all about riding on quiet back roads. We avoid the big highways and take pleasant rides along small village roads for much of the time. The rides on this tour are not overly long and generally flat but there are some hills on a couple of the days in the north some days. These hills are no more than 1km long but they do get a little steep. We take a slow and relaxed pace so this trip is well suited to fit riders looking for a relaxing ride or those new to cycle touring who are looking to find out what it's all about. There is always a support vehicle on hand so if you need any help you can jump in the bus and take a break from cycling.
Day 1 Chiang Rai
Starting in vibrant Chiang Rai, try out a massage, go shopping at the Night Market or take in some of the historic temples.
Days 2-4 Cycling Northern Thailand & the Golden Triangle
Let the riding begin! Heading out of Chiang Rai the in next week you'll find yourself overnighting in a hilltribe village, riding beautiful rural back roads, swapping the bike for an elephant for a relaxing ride, riding alongside the Mekong River and visiting the Opium Museum at the Golden Triangle. The beauty of our route is that you will be riding hotel to hotel on each day, there will be no need to get in the vehicle unless you want to take a break from riding.
Day 5 Bangkok
After transferring to Chiang Rai airport we fly to Bangkok for a night in Thailand's capital. In the evening we will make a night bike tour, visiting some of Bangkok's famous temples after dark and free of the crowds.
Day 6 Bangkok to Pranburi | Cycle 34km
To get out of Bangkok we transfer 2-3 hours to Hua Hin and the start of your ride. Today's ride is an easy ride following back roads through small towns and along quiet coastline. In Pranburi you'll stay in a luxurious resort right on the coast, well away from the bustle of Bangkok where you started the day.
Day 7 Cycle to Prachuap Khiri Khan | Cycle 68km
More quiet back roads and beaches await on this great day of riding. A highlight of the day is cycling past the stark limestone mountains of Sam Roi Yot national Park. If you are really lucky you might spot monkeys hanging out on the rocks. Prachuap Khiri Khan sits on a beautiful curved beach and is a small relaxing provincial town which few tourists bother to visit - this to us makes for a perfect bike tour place to stay!
Day 8 Cycle to Ban Krut | Cycle 70km
Leaving Prachuap is a treat as we cycle through an airforce base and over their runway! A little further down the road we stop at Waghor Aquarium, an amazing centre that displays the wonders of the underwater world that is right of the coast that you are cycling by. Passing through the narrowest part of Thailand - only 11km wide - you can see a ridge on your right that marks the border with Myanmar. Riding on you be on a mix of sealed and unsealed road passing fishing villages on your way to Ban Krut and another lovely resort on the coast.
Day 9 Cycle to Chumphon | Cycle 70km
Today's ride will take you alongside more beautiful coastline and beaches but also through plantations of fruit and rubber. We'll make a stop at one rubber plantation to learn about the long process of taking the sap of the tree and turning it into car tyres and condoms. The ride end in Chumphon, just north of the main town and ferry where you'll enjoy a last night on the Thai mainland.
Day 10 Ferry to the Islands
You'll be up early this morning to catch the ferry to the islands. We will transfer you to the pier where you'll farewell your cycling team, board the ferry and cruise to the island of your choice: Ko Tao, Koh Phangan or Koh Samui. If you are travelling to Ko Phangan or Koh Samui our driver will meet you at the pier for the transfer to the hotel of your choice. If you wish to return to Bangkok on this day our team can transfer you to your hotel.

Hi Chris
We have just got back home today! We had an amazing time in Thailand. The guide and support were excellent. Tick our guide was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot about Thai life; he also introduced us to lots of delicious meals! The cycling was great fun and a brilliant way to see Thailand. We had a lovely few days on Koh Phangan and we very well looked after at the Panviman Hotel. We enjoyed our short stays in Bangkok and managed to do a lot of sight seeing there. Thank you so much for making this such a fantastic holiday.
Kind regards
Stuart and Tina
