This is the way to be as close as you can to the best diving - by living on an island within the national park. Being a national park, however, there are no fancy facilities.

Froggies is not really a resort, it is a dive centre with a few bungalows that allow diving guests a little bit more comfort than the average backpackers' hut otherwise available on Bunaken Island. When it is full (all too often), guests will have to stay in a nearby hut but can still make use of Froggies' excellent dive services.

Froggies' accommodation comes in 11 rooms in 10 wooden chalets. Each unit has either one or two bedrooms with a big fan, a living area, a bathroom in a small garden and a large verandah with a beautiful view over Bunaken Bay.

Staying on Bunaken Island ensures out of the way tranquility. No night clubs, traffic, air-conditioning, swimming pools... but lovely white sand, spectacular snorkelling and no need for shoes.

The largest cottage, Clownfish, has a living-room, two bedrooms, bathroom and a veranda overlooking the sea and is for families or friends that wish to share. The rate is Euro 30.- per person per day.

On the cozier side there are three bungalows: Frogfish, Leaffish and Moorish Idol that each have bedroom and living area, with bathroom in a small garden and veranda overlooking the sea - perfect for a couple or two friends. They price: Euro 35.- per person per day.

Four further bungalows: Harlequin, Ghostpipe, Seahorse and Mandarin are without a living room but with a small corner sofa, and arevery close to the beach. Each has a their Bali style bathroom and veranda with beach and sea view. They are Euro 30.- per person per day.

Finally there are 2 smaller bungalows: Pygmy and Nudibranch, also without a living room but with a small Bali-style bathroom and a veranda with seaview; the price for these is only Euro 25.- per person per day.

The rates are from Euro 25.- to Euro 35.- depending on the kind of bungalow and occupancy. Prices are per day and person, including breakfast, Froggies' evening-buffet and all soft drinks. Buffet-lunch is included in the price of the diving - one day dive trip (2 dives) costs.

And the added bonus for the tired divers: all your laundry gets washed and ironed free of charge.

There are also two smaller bungalows, without sitting room - rate : Euro 25.- per person per day including breakfast and dinner.
