Napatana Lodge

Napatana Lodge is the first eco-tourism lodge in Alotau.

Napatana is a traditionally built pole house that has been made from tropical timbers. The lodge reflects Milne Bay architecture, demonstrating traditional building skills by local craftsman. The open-air bar / restaurant overlooking the bay, popular amongst the handful of expats living and working in the area, is a great place to sup an evening beer with cool breezes floating in from the sea.

The cottages are set in a tropical garden, featuring free roaming animals that have been saved by the adjacent animal sanctuary. These rescued or sick animals have been nurtured to full health and released, but remain reluctant to move on and have become regulars guests throughout the Lodge.

Napatana Lodge has four (4) timber bungalows each with a hexagonal verandah that faces the beach and overlooks the bay. Each bungalow features: Double and single bed; Loft for children or an extra guest; Fan, cable television and a toaster and Fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

The lodge also now features a dormitory style timber dwelling with four (4) double bunk beds and two (2) single beds for the budget traveller. Facilities include: cooking facilities including a double gas cooker, pots, pans, plates and cutlery; Laundry services; Lockers to secure valuables; Fridge and tea and coffee making facilities; Communal showers and toilets situated under the main lodge.

MEALS:- A full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu is included with your stay at Napatana with local fruits, cereals, pizza, homemade pies, fresh fish, chicken, lamb, chilli crab and assorted cold meats and salads.

Napatana Lodge  specialises in eco tourism and interacts closely with local communities and environmental groups to encourage the participation of the local villagers.  The lodge has an advisory service to help you to plan your trip, either using local transport or private charters, and have up to the minute information on all that is happening in the province.
